Hardcore Henry is an action film told from a first person perspective: You remember nothing. Mainly because you've just been brought back from the dead by your wife (Haley Bennett). She tells you that your name is Henry. Five minutes later, you are being shot at, your wife has been kidnapped, and you should probably go get her back. Who's got her? His name's Akan; he's a powerful warlord with an army of mercenaries, and a plan for world domination. You're also in an unfamiliar city of Moscow, and everyone wants you dead. Everyone except for a mysterious British fellow called Jimmy. He may be on your side, but you aren't sure. If you can survive the insanity, and solve the mystery, you might just discover your purpose and the truth behind your identity. Good luck, Henry. You're likely going to need it… Henry, a newly resurrected cyborg who must save his wife/creator from the clutches of a psychotic tyrant with telekinetic powers, AKAN, and his army of mercenaries. Fighting alongside Henry is Jimmy, who is Henry's only hope to make it through the day. Hardcore takes place over the course of one day, in Moscow, Russia. Hardcore Henry certainly isn't a movie for everyone. If you're prone to motion sickness, or don't like the idea of a consistent POV, then stay at home! Same thing if you demand an intelligent story with complex characters, which many critics foolishly did.<br/><br/>Hardcore Henry is insane and ridiculous. It's over-the-top non-stop action and twisted offensive humor. It's not so much about story-telling, but more about providing an amusement park ride. It won't give you a calm moment, I spent almost every second either laughing or gasping. I can't remember the last time I was so entertained for the duration of a feature film.<br/><br/>Hardcore Henry is the very essence of explosive slasher craziness, and will literally let you experience it through the protagonist's eyes. It will go down in history, disputed forever if it's great or awful. I have taken a side for sure.<br/><br/>This might just be the future of cinema. Go and see it, but only if you think you can handle it! Don't come crying to me if you puked, you have been warned. This is an action movie. The plot is not relevant and the plot doesn't aim to be. The story is engaging and nothing more than the flimsy excuse for non stop violence. <br/><br/>Which this movie delivers. In abundance. <br/><br/>Nevertheless, the acting is spot on. The scenes are a single flow of explosions, blood and action. Purely for the manner in which the scenes are woven into a single shot, this is a master piece.<br/><br/>I am not a fan of action movies. Personally, I prefer slow paced character development and story telling. I advice anyone with an open mind to watch this, because it is simply unbelievable. Hardcore blasts along like a supercharged computer-game shoot-em-up, bursting with sick humor and splatterpunk violence.
